Event Details

The International Conference on Demand Responsive and Innovative Transportation Services will bring together experts from agencies, the private sector and academia to explore the latest issues and trends in both research and practice related to the planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of DRT systems around the world.

DRT Systems are rapidly evolving alternative mobility options in the universal push to provide the convenience of the personal automobile without the pollution, traffic and the personal cost of purchase, fuel and maintenance.

Topics of discussion will include:

• The current and near future operating environments of DRT in Europe, USA, Canada, Mexico, South America, Africa, Australia, and Asia

• Comparing and contrasting governance, policies, funders, service providers and management methods.

• Near future planned innovations in accessibility, scheduling, e-hailing, reservations, trip payment, I&R, Where’s my ride, vehicle arrival info, billing, cost sharing and performance measurement.

• Consider the state of DRT vehicles. Autonomous accessible transit vehicle pilots within existing demand-response service structures are still in their infancy. Demand response ride costs are high, partly due to the limited available vehicle options. Existing vehicle options have significant accessibility limitations leading to extended dwell times at passenger stops. Micro transit vehicles coming on the market now are expensive, with a shorter Life-cycle, lower durability than traditional transit vehicles. There is a huge opportunity here as the general population ages.

• Compete or Collaborate? One transit options’ gain is another’s loss. How can local, state and federal agencies better manage the supply of mobility solutions for passengers in various model environments? What facilities or interfaces are needed to support collaboration? What are the common features of successful DRT partnerships across the world.
