The Michigan DOT Transportation Asset Management Council (TAMC) Dashboard features performance metrics in the categories of bridge, pavement, culverts, traffic, safety, maintenance, and finance. For each area, they display a set of graphs indicating the relevant data (such as condition, trends, forecasts, and breakdown by geographic area).

The Missouri DOT performance tracking dashboard contains plentiful information on their selected measures divided into three areas: safety, service, and stability. The tracker is updated each quarter and has data going back to 2005. The dashboard provides a wealth of information on numerous metrics in each category including clean visualizations, a write up of the measure, its purpose, and how data is collected.

Idaho Transportation Department presents 11 selected performance measures to provide insight into the condition of the public assets. Their measures are:

On the dashboard homepage, users can easily see the current progress ITD has made on their selected performance measures. After clicking on any of the measures, they can view more information on the measure (including how and why it is measured) and trends over time.

This TCRP Synthesis report presents an analysis of the current practices in rail asset management from the industry at large. The findings are based on the results of a survey of 28 heavy- and light-rail transit agencies across the US and three selected case studies. Specifically, this study looks at the rate of occurrence of rail defects, broken rails, and broken rail derailments and how that corresponds to the use of ultrasonic testing by agencies of different sizes and levels of transit system use.

The Pavement Management & Performance program provides technical support to pavement managers, it participates in national policy discussions, and it studies emerging methods and technologies for collecting pavement data. Their homepage on FHWA's website contains a wealth of resources, including a series of quarterly pavement webinars and other publications. Explore the page for any resources that may be useful for improving pavement management.

As new technologies are developed in the field of transportation, agencies have the opportunity to collect more data than ever before. In this report, agencies are introduced to an eight step framework for managing this new big data and incorporating it into asset management. The eight steps start with gaining an understanding of big data, then walk through the process for piloting a big data test environment. The steps end with demonstrating the value of the data to other business units and executives and set up a formal storage environment. Supporting this report are several additional tools, including a data management capability self-assessment, a catalog tool, and more information on data governance.

This TRB Circular report covers the discussions of CEOs from state, regional, and transit agencies on the topic of the pandemic, and how it has impacted their agencies' planned investments. The webinar, from July 2020, featured six panelists from Pennsylvania, Utah, Kansas, California, Maryland, and DC. They explored the immediate impacts of the pandemic to their operations, the challenges three months in, and some of their creative solutions. The key messages emerging from the discussions were returning to normal, approaching the problems, and putting people first.

This report provides a guide for agencies transitioning into a more modern data management approach. It covers the knowledge, environment, projects, and personnel buy-in necessary to successfully shift from a traditional data management approach to one that takes on "big data" with an assortment of novel technologies.

This report presents an essential component of an airport's risk management data process: collecting and sharing operations and safety data. Such data helps airports monitor their performance and benchmark against the industry. To aid airports in this endeavor, this report identifies best practices and data sources for collecting such data. It also explains some of the challenges associated with the process and outlines a plan for a future national database.
