TPM Webinar 31: Access to Destinations
Traditional metrics used for travel demand analysis principally focus on economic hubs and commuting patterns. The onset of widespread telework, in addition to other factors, have put DOTs to task in responding to evolving travel necessitates, while grappling with the reality that current data practices and performance metrics are insufficient in capturing complex, multimodal transportation systems and the needs of its users. The discipline of access invites us to integrate community outcomes and consider the tangible impact on travel behavior as a result of a particular intervention; from project prioritization to performance-based planning, access is not only a calibrating factor but a core tenet. Featured presenters included:
- Deanna Belden, Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) and Eric Lind, University of Minnesota
- Henry McKay, Caltrans
- Thomas Craig, Washington State DOT
- Jonah Williams, Massachusetts DOT
