A data management plan is a document that describes the data you expect to acquire or generate during a program implementation, special (one-off) project, or research project. It provides details on how the data will be managed, described, analyzed, stored, shared, protected, and eventually archived or disposed of. In short, the plan should describe all aspects of the data lifecycle, guide the collection of data that meets its primary quality objectives, and ensure responsibilities are assigned for data management activities.
