Elizabeth Irwin

Biography
Elizabeth Irvin is Deputy Director in IDOT’s Office of Planning and Programming. In her role she is focused on implementing sustainability initiatives, including the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) and Carbon Reduction programs funded by the recent federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Prior to IDOT, Elizabeth worked at the Union of Concerned Scientists advocating for equitable deployment of clean transportation, including electrifying ridehailing and automated vehicles, and better incorporating equity and sustainability into transportation decisionmaking. Elizabeth has also worked in both the non- profit and public sector in Illinois, at the Center for Neighborhood Technology and the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning. She has a masters degree in city planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Elizabeth’s undergraduate degree was in music performance, and she still plays french horn in Chicago-area community orchestras.
